WIRELESS LAN BASED APPLICATION

A STUDY OF WIRELESS LAN BASED APPLICATIONUSING ANDROID SMART PHONE

ABSTRACT
Wireless LAN, which aims to exchange data wirelessly in a short distance using short-wavelength radio transmissions, is providing a necessary technology to create convenience, intelligence and controllability. With the development of modern technology, Wireless LAN supports the Android platform. Android has a complete software package consisting of an operating system, middleware layer and core applications. Security is primary concern everywhere and for everyone .This paper discuss about the security applications which are used by the Wireless LAN through android smart phone such as in robotics, home appliances, and accident detections. These applications are used for our security purpose and reducing/managing the user’s time also.
KEYWORDS: wireless LAN, Android Security, JDK, Dc Motor, Heart Beat Sensor.
I.INTRODUCTION
Wireless LAN’S are groups of wireless networking nodes within a limited geographic area, such as an office building or campus that are capable of radio communications. It provides the security measures at both the application layer and the link layer. An automatic output power adaptation scheme is also included in the standard for the low power consumption of light-weight mobile devices, which can reduce the radio spread range for data transmission exactly according to requirements based on the detected intensity. In our today’s trendy technology, wireless LAN supports the Android platform. Android includes a full set of tools that provides developers with high productivity and deep insight into their applications as shown in Fig.1. The data received by the wireless LAN from Android smart phone is fed as
input to the user. Using these platform users can easily access and protect the user’s property as privacy.

In Smart Living, wireless LAN automatically controls and save the energy of home lights, fans with light depending resistor by a JDK tool as in OS platform using android smart phone APP. It will gradually turn into a reality that consumers can control their home remotely and wirelessly. In Robotics, wireless LAN reduces the manual works. Using the DC motors, moves the entire robot in all the four directions with remote buttons such as Select, Left, Right, Front, Back, and Stop. These directions are controlled by the remote buttons using android smart phone APP. We can move this robot either at home or at offices, factories or any other place where we need monitoring every minute for the purpose of security. In Accident detection, works on the principle of light modulation by blood flow through finger at each pulse are calculated as in Beat Per Minute (BPM). The heart beat sensor measures the heart beat rate and then the system will immediately transmit the location of the accident to the pre-configured contacts through Short Message Service (SMS) by an APP using android smart phone.
                                                  II.APPLICATION
 1. SMART LIVING

Every person wants his home, to be secured. Nowadays, smart phones are becoming more powerful with reinforced processors, larger storage capabilities, richer entertainment functions and more communication methods. Smart house is a house that has highly advanced automatic systems for lighting, temperature control, TV remote control, security, appliances, and many other functions as shown in Fig.2. Coded signals are sent through the home’s wiring to switches and outlets that are programmed to operate appliances and electronic devices in every part of the house. Smart house can also provide a remote interface to home appliances or the automation system itself, via telephone line, wireless transmission and android application, to provide control and monitoring via a smart phone. It consists of Power Supply unit, Bluetooth, LCD, Relay and etc… The concept of Smart Living has offered better opportunity in convenience, comfort and security which include centralized control of air conditioning, lighting, heating, cooling and door key lock at home using an open-source Java Development Kit (JDK).With dramatic increase in smart phone users, smart phones have gradually turned into an all-purpose portable device and provided people for their daily use.

2. ROBOTICS

Today robots are designed for the purpose of performing a specific tasks. Then it provides a two-way communication between the Android phone and the robot. Wireless LAN receives data from smart phone that is fed as input to the controller. Using DC motor, the robot moves in all the four directions using the android phone. DC motor is any class of electrical machines that converts direct current electrical power into mechanical power. Its speed can be controlled over a wide range, using either variable supply voltage or by changing the strength of current in its field windings. The android application consists of values that operate the robotIn this application, if click on SELECT DEVICE icon to “Select” and paired with the wireless LAN. When press UP ARROW BUTTON, the robot moves “Forward”; When press LEFT ARROW BUTTON, the robot takes “Turns Left”; When press RIGHT ARROW BUTTON, the robot takes “Turns Right”; When press DOWN ARROW BUTTON, the robot moves “Backward” and When press STOP BUTTON, the robot “Stop” the motion. Furthermore if distance between the robot and obstacle is less than 8 cm, the robot stops its motion. And then finally, click onDISCONNECT DEVICE” icon to “Disconnect” the paired with the wireless LAN as shown in Fig.3. The robot is small in size so can be used for spying a  nd its borders are for disposing hidden land mines and it can be used for surveillance. The consistent output of a robotic system along with quality and repeatability are unmatched. Pick and Place robots can be reprogrammable and tooling can be interchanged to provide for multiple applications. Our goal is to make universal robots that are flexible enough to do just about anything a human does and more.

  3. ACCIDENT DETECTION
An intention to implement an innovative solution for accident by developing an Accident Detection System using android smart phone protects us from the accident zone. The heart beat sensor is based on the principle of photophlethysmography, which measures the heart beat rate. If an accident is occurred the detector got the signal from sensor and then the system would filter out the background noise and detect only the sound of the pulse. The microphone would need to be held near to the heart or somewhere the movement of blood made enough noise to be detect using some sort of audio signal processing. Then count the time between each pulse to get the pulse rate. Then the system will immediately transmit the location of the accident to the pre-configured contacts through Short Message Service (SMS).

Fig.5 INSIDE DESIGN OF HEART BEAT SENSOR

The normal human heart beat range is 60 to 100 Beats Per Minute (BPM). Heart beat can measures the change in volume of blood through any organ of the body which causes a change in the light intensity through the organ(vascular region). If there is any variation from the normal heart beat range, then the system detects that may be an accident or not. In case of an accident is occurred then the driver is prompted to respond by touch or voice in order to eliminate any false detection So the proposed system ensures that to reduce the human death ratio by accidents.

                                           III.FUTURE SCOPE
·        In Wireless LAN, can be standard in tens of millions of mobile phones, PCs, laptops, and other electronic devices. As a result, market is going to demand new innovative applications, value added services, end-to-end solutions and much more.
·        In Smart Living, advanced objectives such as secure delegation and policy-based access control require a secure user interface to handle security-sensitive user input and act as an interface between the remote control with its mobile and a home relieve.
·     In Robotics, can be further improved in terms of decision taking capabilities by         employing varied types of sensors and thus could be used in big industries for different applications with advanced feature such as voice recognition.
·        In Accident Detection, The system should be improved in such a way that all the modules are incorporated within the vehicle and then integrate with in an automobile is demand in this accident detection system.

 IV.CONCLUSION
In this paper, Wireless LAN based smart home system, can controlled remotely upon user authentication is proposed and implemented. In this Android system JDK is used to develop the system, which is proved to be very efficient and convenient. Then the Accident detection and alert system provide emergency responders with crucial information at the earliest possible time. Using heart beat sensor will reduce the death ratio of a human and to provide the maximum assistance while accident occurs. Then in Robotics commands are received from android smart phone, the robot motion can be controlled the speed of the motor, sensing and sharing the information with phone about the direction and distance of the robot from the nearest obstacle. Accomplishment of wireless LAN connection is permits the system installation in the Android Smart Phone more easy way.
